Student Participation: Large animal research assistant, bench research assistant, clinical research.

Background Needed: Basic physical sciences course: chemistry, biology.

General Research Interest: Chronic liver and kidney diseases, hepatorenal syndrome, transplantation across blood group ABO barriers, cholangiocarcinoma, non-alcoholic steatohepatitus, transplantation tolerance.

Student Participation: Learn and assist in assays related to genomic analysis, immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR. Learn and assist in animal surgery. Care and maintain animals and appropriate records. Help with computers/database management.  

Background Needed
: Interest in surgery, immunology, and diseases and traeted by organ transplantion, computer.database management, completetion or enrollment in introductory courses (including lab) of biology, chemistry, biochemistry or equivalent. Genetics course work a plus.

Outside Majors
: Biology, biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, immunology.

Key Words: Surgery, transplantation, immunology, hepatorenal syndrome.

Student generated projects may be considered if it pertains to our general topics.

Student Participation: Literature and chart reviews, assays, possibly involvement in large animal studies.

Background Needed: Computer/database management, interest in surgical procedures, basic lab bench experience.

Outside Majors: Biochemistry, Immunology.
