Research Interest: Development of communication, emotions,
and self in infancy (0-3 years), psychological and health
benefits of somatic awareness pracitces for adults (e.g. Feldenkrais,
Rosen method, bodymind centering.), treatment of chronic pain,
autism, and depression using somatic awareness practices.
Student
Participation: Assist in making videotapes of mother-infant
interactions, code behavior from videotape (e.g., emotional
expressions, mother-infant communications, discovery of self).
Assist in data entry and possible analysis.
Background
Needed: Interest in topic area, good observation skills,
good communication skills, computer literacy, some people
with spanish speaking skills are also needed.

Research Interest: Autobiographical remembering, narrative,
development from adolescence through adulthood, conversational
approaches, construction of memory and self.
Student Participation: I prefer to have undergraduates
begin by working for credit as research assistants, coding,
entering data, running experiments and doing library work.
Once a student has a more defined interest, I then like to
encourage students to take on a more leadership-type role;
supervising a prject, developing a senior thesis idea, or
wititng up data for a poster presentation. For this altter
type of work, I encourage students to seek UROP funding.
Background Needed: Introductory psychology and research
methods are preferred but I am willing th train people.

- selective attention, inhibitory mechanisms of attention,
visual perception, object and space-based attention, skill
acquisition, and cognitive process of the elderly.
Student Participation: Test participants using behavioral
and psychophy siological measures, data collectiona dn interpretation,
lab management and administration.Additional duties commensurate
with experience and dedication.
Background Needed: At least preliminary exposure
to psychology courses. Main requirements are an interest in
human cognitive processes (esp. Attention), desire to learn
about these processes, and reliability.
Outside Majors: Philosophy, Sociology, Computer Science
(as related to cognitive science).
