General Research Interest: Mechanisms of biochemical
injury to human lung cells in culture; mechanisms of bioactivation
& detoxification of lung toxins; apoptosis studies and
cytokine production using lung cells exposed to complex
particulate mixtures found in environmental exposure.
Student Participation: Culture cells, run colorimetric
& spectrophotometric assays, assist in experiments on
cell cytotoxicity & molecular biology.
Background Needed: Organic chemistry, biochemistry
& some biology.
Outside Majors: Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Medicine.
Key Words: Pulmonary toxicology, environmental toxicology,
molecular biology.
