General Education Requirements and Courses

The University of Utah’s General Education program requires that students: 1) develop important core skills in writing and math and 2) are challenged to think about the world from various perspectives.  Through these courses students become insightful thinkers, flexible problem solvers, and socially responsible citizens. Some majors require specific General Education courses. Check with your advisor before selecting classes. There are two types of IE Science courses (SF and AS); students can take two SF or one SF and one AS to complete the requirement.
Some courses are listed in more than one area. For example, a course may be listed as fulfilling FF or HF. In this case, the course would fulfill one of the other, but not both.
