Quantitative Reasoning (QA, QB, QR) Requirement
| Quantitative Reasoning Math (QA) Courses | Quantitative Reasoning Statistics/Logic (QB) Courses | Quantitative Reasoning (QA/QB) Courses | Quantitative Reasoning Requirement Committee |
The Quantitative Reasoning Requirement will prepare students for an increasingly information-based society in which the ability to use and critically evaluate information, especially numerical information, is central to the role requirements of an informed citizen. Students should acquire the skills necessary to make rational decisions based on real data. They should be exposed to general methods of inquiry that apply in a wide variety of settings; they should be able to assess critically arguments and rational decisions. Finally, students should develop the ability to judge the strengths and limitations of quantitative approaches to knowledge.
Students must take either:
-One QA (mathematics) course and one QB (statistics or logic) course, or
-One QA/QB (mathematics and statistics/logic) course
to fulfill the requirement.
Your major may require you to take a specific course to satisfy the quantitative reasoning requirement. Contact your major department and get their approval before taking the course.
